Why should my puppy attend?

Puppy preschool is a vital first step in developing a friendly, well-mannered dog. When training a puppy, we lay down the foundation for the remainder of their life; we help determine their outlook on the world and develop the skills they require when interacting with humans and other dogs.

Not only does our preschool familiarise your pup with the clinic, allowing them to make a positive connection with the environment, but it is also a vital socialisation program. The critical socialisation period of puppies is between 3-14 weeks of age. During this time, all learning is considered permanent. Therefore it is imperative that your puppy learns about new things in a safe and controlled manner to prevent future behaviour problems (fear, anxiety etc.).

Our program offers a fun and friendly environment! Your pup will learn how to interact properly with other dogs and people, and you will learn about responsible pet ownership.

Puppy preschool isn’t just for the puppies...

The program offers important information for pet owners including;

·         first aid

·         nutrition advice

·         preventative healthcare

·         handling techniques

·         grooming

·         basic behaviour

·         basic training (toilet training, sit, drop, stay, come)

What’s involved?

Our puppy preschool involves four one hour sessions, held weekly.

The sessions are small and controlled, headed by an experienced trainer.

How old does my puppy need to be?

The best age to start is at 7 weeks but we take on pups from 7-13 weeks of age.

What vaccination does my puppy need?

To enrol in puppy preschool, the puppy must have had at least their first vaccination (C3). Proof of vaccination is required for enrolment. Please provide the vaccination certificate from your vet.

What is the cost?

The program costs $75 per puppy and an additional $50 for an extra pup. This fee is paid at the first session by cash or EFTPOS at the clinic.

What do I bring?

All you need to bring is your puppy on a flat collar or harness, and lead. Treats are provided for the first session.

Please do not feed your puppy before the session.

Can my children come along?

We encourage children to get involved with all aspects of pet care; due to safety reasons, children over the age of five are welcome to attend.
