Meet our lovely team of nurses! They are the life line to the clinic and rotate duties on a daily basis to maintain experience and knowledge in all fields.
Prue is a qualified vet nurse with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. She started working with us in 2012, but has been working with animals since 2010, volunteering at Maryborough Animal Refuge as an animal attendant/assistant manager. Prue has also completed her Certificate III in Dog Behaviour and Training through the national dog trainers federation. She is a huge rescue advocate; she spends her spare time with her rescue dogs Sophie (from RSPCA Gympie) and Leonard (ex-racing greyhound from Hervey Bay Pound). Prue also enjoys gardening and travelling when not at work. She is the calm in the storm on a busy day, the peaceful strength that can always be relied on. Prue is a fantastic surgical nurse who cares for all of the patients that come through our doors needing a little extra love before and after their surgery.
Linda qualified in 2013 as a mature student and holds a Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing and Level III Animal Handling. She has always had a deep connection with animals and, captivated by the adventures of Steve Irwin and the Australia Zoo team, began volunteering at the Zoo. After each stint she would go back to her office job and dream of working with animals in some capacity so enrolled at Bay of Plenty Polytech in New Zealand and the rest is history. Her passion is wildlife and incorporating her vet nursing experience into captive wildlife care and projects both in Australia and overseas. Linda is also a huge advocate for pet rescue and adoption. She is the jovial character who can keep us smiling even when we do not feel like it. Even on our busiest days, Linda keeps our spirits high and ensures all clients and patients are also just as happy. You will often see her Georgie, a rescued fox terrier cross, sleeping under the reception desk by Linda’s side. Georgie was abandoned and brought to the clinic in terrible condition, but with lots of love, care and a specialised diet, she is thriving with Linda and loves relaxing on the beach, riding her bike down the esplanade and kayaking on the lake!
Julie has been a veterinary nurse in the Hervey Bay region for over 15 years. She has completed her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing and Puppy Socialisation and Training course. Julie has gained extensive knowledge and experience over the years. With a background in human dental nursing, Julie is our dental expert and loves to assist vets with all dental procedures. She is the life of the clinic and is always up for a chat and laugh! She has a special interest in birds and rodents. Outside of work, Julie loves her social life and caring for her fur family; she has two Labradors Chloe and Callie, two rescue cats Misty and Matty as well as a small mischief of rats! She may be a little crazy but that comes with the job!
Natasha is currently completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. After working in the finance industry for many years she decided to follow her true passion for animals. Natasha loves all animals big & small, and has her own menagerie at home including two dogs Samwise & Bernie, two rescue cats Ember & Rudi, a cockatiel Quasimodo & three rats Scabbers, Albert & Sheldon.
Natasha loves to spend her free time training her dogs, helping out at the local dog club & spending time with her little furry family.
Kelly is resident clinic dog. Kelly came in as a stray when she was a pup and found herself right at home. When Kelly is around you cannot help but smile. She loves and cares for foster kittens or pups when they need her. She helps us demonstrate to our clients and their pets how to manage reactive or aggressive behaviours in dogs and she helps clean up around the place, especially if there are leftovers as payment!
